Earth Hour 2010 : Countdown Begins !

Climate change is happening all around us and its pace is accelerating.
From melting glaciers to increasingly intense weather patterns, climate change is already impacting life on Earth.

On Saturday, March 27, 2010, at 8:30 p.m. local time, SIMPLY HADDAD and our employees will be taking part in what promises to be an amazing and inspiring event in the fight against climate change: Earth Hour. Sponsored by World Wildlife Fund (WWF), Earth Hour asks individuals, businesses, government leaders and others to turn out all non-essential lighting for one hour as a bold statement of collective concern about climate change.

Earth Hour is the largest event of its kind in the world. In 2009, nearly one billion people from 4,100 cities in 87 countries turned out their lights, as well as international landmarks including the Golden Gate Bridge, Empire State Building, Eiffel Tower and Great Pyramids, and the city skylines of Las Vegas, Hong Kong and Singapore.

We’d like to encourage you, to join us in this important and inspiring effort.

Participation is free and easy:

  1. Sign up at EarthHour.org
Show your support, find out what Earth Hour events are happening near you and get tips on organizing fun events in your community.
  2. Spread the Word
Invite your friends and family to join the movement, become a fan on Facebook and post a link to EarthHour.org on your profile page.
  3. Turn off the Lights
Turn off your non-essential lighting at 8:30 p.m. local time on Saturday, March 27.

To get a better sense of the magnitude of the effort, please take a moment to watch WWF’s video about Earth Hour: www.myearthhour.org/news/media.

Our company has long believed in operating our business responsibly. In the weeks leading up to Earth Hour, we will take an even closer look at actions we can take throughout the organization to operate more efficiently, waste less and reduce our environmental footprint—not only in our own business, but throughout our supply chain.

Please join us as we turn out and take action!

Don’t forget-March 27th at 8:30 pm, lights off.

Earth Hour 2009 : Lights Out !

From melting glaciers to increasingly intense weather patterns, we know that climate change is already impacting life on our planet.

On Saturday, March 28, 2009, at 8:30 pm, SIMPLY HADDAD and our employees will take part in Earth Hour-the world’s largest global climate change event. By simply turning out all non-essential lighting for one hour at our company buildings and in our own homes, we will join tens of millions of concerned citizens throughout the world in calling for action to save our planet for future generations.

We’d like to encourage you, to join us in this important and inspiring effort.

Led by the World Wildlife Fund, more than 50 million people in 370 cities around the world took part in Earth Hour last year. The lights went out at Sydney’s Opera House, Rome’s Coliseum, the Empire State Building and the Golden Gate Bridge. Even the Google homepage went dark for the day.

This year, Earth Hour will be even bigger. Cities large and small have said they’ll participate, with more signing up daily. They will join international cities such as Beijing, Cape Town, Copenhagen, Edinburgh, Helsinki, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, London, Manila, Mexico City, Moscow, New York, Paris, Rome, and Toronto.

To get a better sense of the magnitude and inspiring nature of the event, take a moment to watch WWF’s video about Earth Hour 2009 by visiting http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjWD8pbK5t8.

Participating in Earth Hour is easy, fun and absolutely free. To get more information and to sign up to for Earth Hour 2009, just visit www.earthhour.org and agree to turn out your lights from 8:30-9:30 pm on March 28, 2009.

Energy efficiency isn’t just good for the bottom line. As citizens of the world, we all have a stake in the future of our planet and must seek to operate in ways that don’t deplete our world’s limited natural resources.

In the weeks leading up to Earth Hour, we will be taking a closer look at ways we can operate more efficiently, waste less and reduce our environmental footprint-not only in our own operations, but throughout our supply chain. That’s because all of us here at SIMPLY HADDAD care about the future of our world and want to do what we can to make a positive difference.

We want you to spread the word in your hometown to turn out more lights than any other country in the world during this historic event and so we hope you’ll join us, and encourage people you know in the community to also take part.

Don’t forget-March 28th at 8:30 pm, lights off.
